Are you making your workouts easy or hard?
Check out this video of Olympic super start Apolo Ohno training. Tell me what you see most of the time:
What do you notice when he competes?
What did you see?
Do you see what I see?
He is the most decorated Winter Olympian and there is nobody competing on the level he is for the length time he has in speed skating.
Watching him skate is a thing of beauty. Power and grace. Extremely fluid. He makes it look very easy, but is competing at the highest level.
Why is it that most (not the readers of this blog of course, way too bright for that) are making it look hard?
The goal is to make the difficult LOOK easy.
Make it look easy and get BETTER results.
Sounds insane I know. Try it first before you dismiss it. Test it.
As the old saying goes, success leaves clues.
Drop me a line in the comments below and let know your results!

Almost NEVER pay attention to how an athlete trains.
ALWAYS pay attention to how he performs.
Thanks Frankie!
Yep, results are what matters!

he seems to break the movements involed in skating down. Like you said mike his skating stride is a thing of beauty, he makes it look so easy people start to believe it is those guys skate 1500meters in a very difficult position and when race is over they are barely out of breath, there leg strength and stamina is awsome.
Great to see you here again Mike!
Yes, at the end of the race, at the highest level, he is barely breathing hard. He even stated that if they had to rerun the race, he was conditioned for it.
Why is it that people in gyms feel the need to walk out (correct that, limp out) like they are dragging a primordial tail?

Most athletes get better in spite of their training not because of it
Proof that our Olympians could be better

Great to see you here Craig!
Yes, I totally agree with that. We can do better and we will!

Thanks for the post!

i think the answer is that most of us arent on his level!!!
although this post inspired me, and the video emphasizes that mobility exercises are just as much a part of a complete regimen as actual strength training and competition.
thanks again

Thanks Dom and great to see you here!
True, most of use are not on his level; but if you want to make it look easy, you need to practice like it IS easy. This does not mean lift pink dumbbells, but all the sour puss face scrunching in the world won’t make you any stronger.
Any feedback, let me know and thanks again for stopping by! Hope to hear more from ya
